WHAT:  The 2012 Houston Pride Parade

WHERE:  Montrose Area

WHEN:  Saturday, June 23rd starting at 8:15PM

HOW MUCH:  No cost  

COME MARCH IN THE PARADE WITH THE A&F - H GANG!!!!!

The Parade, held along Westheimer Rd. between Dunlavy and Crocker, features more than 100 organizations and businesses supporting and celebrating the Houston LGBT community. The Parade draws more than 300,000 people in total, making it the second largest parade in Houston and the largest Pride Parade or LGBT gathering in the Southwestern United States. The Parade pre-show beginning at 7:45 p.m. will be at 7:45 p.m. on Westheimer/Waugh.

Grandstand seating is available in our Friends of Pride VIP Area (seating, private restrooms, complimentary food, cocktails and water are available), and general bleacher seats (non-alcoholic beverages and water are available for sale, and private restrooms) are available as well.

NOTE:  You should be aware of this information if you are planning to march in the parade as part of the A&F-H contingent, or are going to come down to watch the parade from the sidelines:

ROAD CLOSURES

The following streets will be closed Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m. through Sunday, June 24 at 3 a.m.:

• Yoakum Boulevard between Westheimer and Hawthorne

• Lovett Boulevard between Graustark and Montrose

• Commonwealth Boulevard between Westheimer and Lovett

• Mt. Vernon Street between Westheimer and Lovett

Come one, come all to the MONTHLY ASIANS AND FRIENDS - HOUSTON BOARD MEETING !!!!!

As always, you are invited and encouraged to attend our Monthly Board Meeting.

Meetings are open to the active membership and you can get some insight into what makes your organization function.

Attendees are always encouraged to participate in the proceedings

If you cannot personally be there, you can send your ideas or requests to any Board Member. Board member contact e-mail addresses are on the website.

Remember, this is YOUR organization. The Board always welcomes ideas, and input from the members to make the group a better place for all of us.

This month the Board will be discussing the planning and execution of events in our organization.   Please make your ideas for future events known to a Board Member to be included in our discussions.

Board meetings start at 7:30 pm and this monthwill be held at Bob D’s home, 2214 DeMilo Dr.

The 2012 Annual HATCH Prom “Year of the Dragon Ball” will be held Friday, June 8th, 7pm-midnight at the GLBT Cultural Center. The HATCH Prom is a tradition and rite of passage for Houston-area gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersexed and questioning youth and our allies. Imagine going to your high school prom and being able to dress like you want to, dance with who want to, and just be yourself! That’s what HATCH prom is all about… plus we bounce around, dance our heads off, take pictures, and give ourselves night to remember! As always, there will be festive decorations, a rockin’ DJ, surprise entertainers, and tons of yummy food.

Let’s get out and support this valuable asset to our GLBT community.

JUNE IS “MULTI-TASKING MONTH”, SO IN HONOR OF THIS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO  MULTI-TASK WITH OUR PARTIES !!!!! 

01.  Pre-Pride Parade Pool Party - Come on out, help us work on our Pride Parade entry, cool off in the pool, and enjoy a pot luck dinner.  (NOTE: We also need volunteers to participate in the Pride Parade.  Use this opportunity to sigh up to either walk in the parade or help with the dragon.)

02.  Asian Pacific American Heritage Party - This year we will be celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month just a little late.  Normally it is observed in the month of May.  We will be having a Pot-Luck dinner.  You are encouraged to bring to the pot luck dinner, a dish that is representative of your homeland.  Please bring enough to feed five (5) hungry Asian guys.  People with the last name beginning with R,S,T,U,V bring a dessert.  (If your homeland has a native dessert let us try it. )

03.  Filipino Independence Day Party - Filipino Independence Day is traditionally observed on June 12th.  This year, a little early,  we will observe this special day on Saturday, June 2nd. So come on out and help our Filipino friends observe their special day.
