Fish Fry and Executive Board Nominations at Chris D.
It seems like it was just a
year ago when we had elections last…oh wait...that is how it works, right? This year we will be having our popular
fish fry with all of the good southern accompaniments like hushpuppies,
coleslaw and maybe a little ambrosia and sweet tea to wash everything
down! We will also be having the
Executive Board nominations. Two
of our Board members must step down due to term limitations so you need to
nominate a new president and treasurer, and decide whether you want to keep the
VP and secretary or throw the bums out.
If turn out at the primaries is any indication, we may be having a
really big crowd! Please think
about whom you might want to nominate for this post, or nominated
yourself. Since this is a catered
event it will be $7 for members and $13 for members-to-be! Chris D. home is located at 5010

April 12 – 12pm Forbidden Gardens in
Katy
Come with us to visit a
fascinating outdoor museum replicating some of China's major
historic
sites. Guided tours take you back to the third century BC to view the first
Emperor's amazing 6,000-piece terra-cotta army
replicated in 1/3 scale.
The tour
continues to the intricately detailed miniatures of the famous
Forbidden City in Beijing which served as palaces for nearly 500 years of
Imperial rule. Admission to the
park is $10 a person (or $5 if we can get a group of 25). They ONLY have guided tours that leave
on the hour. I suggest that we get
there around 12 pm, and take the 1 pm tour (they have a informative video to
watch before the tour). Please

Thai New Year at David and Noel's
Songkran is being celebrated a little late with AFH but it is
sure to be a good time! We will
also be having our Executive Board Elections and At-large Board Nominations at
this event so make sure to bring your ballots! This will be a catered affair with food being provided by
Veng Thai (we got food from them last year and it was delicious!). Price will be $7 for member and $13 for
members to be. David and Noel’s
place is at 611
W 20th St 77008 in the Heights.
May 10 – 10 am Houston Zoo 11513 N Macgregor
Wolves and Otters and Bears,
oh my. And these are the ones down
on all fours! Come
join us for a leisurely stroll through the really fabulous Houston Zoo. The weather in May can be really nice
and this is a perfect excuse to get out before it gets too hot! We will meet outside the front gate at
10 (late comers give us a call so we can meet up!) and take our time looking at the animals (and the
daddies!). Admission for the Zoo
is a cheap $10 (or $8 if you buy your tickets in advance at any Fiesta grocery
store). The zoo is located in
Hermann Park at 11513
N. MacGregor in the medical center/museum district.

Italian Potluck/At-large Board Elections – David and Noel’s
Mama Mia! Bring over your favorite Italian dish to
share and enjoy the company of the other AFH members as we elect the new
At-large Board! Bring enough food
to serve 3-4 (couples double that) as we supply the drinks! location TBA
